Jag använder ofta The Browser och har stundom funnit det (med marginal) värt några dollar i månaden (2,50$ kostade när jag började, numera är det 5 vilket är på gränsen...). Numera ser sajten betydligt tristare ut, och det finns en förklaring:

One big change is that we have stopped using pictures on the website. The reason for this is prudence. It is often impossible to tell, without exhaustive research, the ultimate source of a picture and the rights attaching to it. The rise of automated image-recognition technology means that violations of copyright are far more likely to be detected and far more likely to be punished. This is a good thing; we do not wish to violate the copyright of others, however inadvertently; nor do we wish to be punished for doing so. The only safe course for us is to cease using pictures.

Tänker man så på The browser finns sannolikt liknande tankar på andra håll. Oro för att oavsiktligt råka bryta mot lagen gör alltså webben bildfattigare och tristare i detta nu.
